Reinforcing and renovation of 698 square meters. The Cathedral was built in 1884 and survived the earthquake on January 12, 2010 with severe damages. The first phase consists in the reinforcing of the walls, replacing the roof structure, placing X-bracing and reinforcing to make the building able to withstand a magnitude 4-5 earthquakes with minimum damages. The second phase consist in underground work, including installation of insulators underneath the existing foundation. The structural design has been developed by MIYAMOTO International, and will make the building earthquake resistant for up to magnitude 7-8 earthquakes.
