Palocortado offered us the opportunity to return the restaurant to the forefront of Malaga's hospitality industry after a successful first stage 15 years ago. The owners had in mind a business model that needed order, coherence and the expression of the brand's identity in the space, based on product cuisine as the heart and soul of the restaurant. To do this, they took over a place located in the old part of the city, at the foot of the Cathedral of Malaga, through which several restaurants had passed without success.
The challenge was twofold: the peculiarity of the premises and its unfavorable history over the years, in addition to the economic condition of designing a successful space with a very tight budget.
In the design, it was decided to play with low-cost decorative patterns, where their repetition helped to organize the space, speed up the construction process and shorten the delivery times of the final product.
This project has recently been nominated in the 'Europe Bar' category within the Restaurant & Bar DesignAwards 2019 international design award and awarded the 'Excellent Architecture, Interior Architecture Award' in the prestigious German DesignAward 2020, awarded by the German Design Council , rewarding those projects that communicate through the quality of the design, selecting the winner from more than 1,500 nominees per category
