Orientation, scale and the reference to the diversity of outdoor spaces were factors determining the form of the new school building. The historically listed existing structure was the starting point of a new ensemble of buildings which were lined up and rotated to form the central organizing principle, an 'inner-path' providing not only for circulation, but also break-out areas providing a variety of functions. Orientation within the primary school building is
facilitated by the scale of the repeating structures as well as their relationship to the exterior spaces. At the joint between existing buildings and new construction, the inner path widens and forms a large foyer. Through a system of folding walls the foyer can be extended as a multi-functional room for a variety of uses.
