Under SB9, this development reconfigures a standard Los Angeles city lot that previously housed a single-family residence and a two-car garage into a well-organized complex with two main dwelling units and two accessory dwelling units (ADUs), spanning 4,770 square feet.
The project preserves the original native landscape and hardscape to minimize environmental impact and adds a new tree to a charming courtyard, boosting the area’s welcoming atmosphere.
The owner needed an economical yet aesthetically pleasing design. The solution is a simple two-story stacked box with a sloped roof that, through strategic rotations, introduces a unique architectural element. The exterior is clad in corrugated steel, selected for its modern look, durability, and affordability. The architecture reflects the geometry of a nearby church, helping the building blend seamlessly with its environment.
