A simple, clean glass box by day, a glowing backdrop of colors by night. This mixed-use project in Switzerland features a high-end restaurant on the ground floor, 2 floors of office space, residential flats, and a rooftop garden.The primary challenge with the project was bringing together the multiple requirements and uses demanded from its location and program. As part of a larger effort to redevelop a defunct industrial area in Lausanne, Switzerland, the project was located within a prominent plaza serving as the epicenter for the entertainment district. With high expectations for nightly foot traffic, one of the goals was to create an outdoor theater in the plaza, utilizing one of the building’s facade’s.The program itself aimed to fit a high-end restaurant on the ground floor, 2 floors of commercial office space above, along with 8 residential flats, each with its own roof garden. The resulting design was a clean, Swiss box, softly lit with warm colors to fit the mood for the surrounding entertainment district.The project was designed and executed in collaboration with local Swiss firm, Plancherel & Schmid SA.
