The volume of this project was driven by the significant constraints of the construction area , located between firstly roads, and an existing family house on the other. Despite a depth of extremely small building on the ground floor (only 5.7m front) , the template has been been exploited to its fullest and in compliance with the regulation on buildings . However, we had two major advantages : the stunning views of the medieval castle of Useldange , and an ideal orientation of the street front ( south). Finally, the raised position of the ground relative to the road allowed us to work the plan by removing the constraint we direct views from the public space. The plans are simple and effective to the extent of opportunities available .
The project has also evolved in design course eventually leading to a positive energy house. This house is not only passive, but it also produces more energy than it consumes. Indeed, the entire surface of the roof was covered with photovoltaic panels with an electrical output of around 16 kWp.
Given this broad self-sufficiency in electricity production, the use of fossil fuel has been avoided, to the benefit of the environment. A heat pump is therefore responsible for the production of hot water all year round. In order to best optimize the efficiency of the heat pump, a heating system by the floor has been installed both on the ground floor as on the floor.
We still had to consider several aspects that we were going to dictate our choices for the aesthetic expression of the facades : the situation in the central area of town , the color palette of the surrounding buildings, the desire to work with noble but contemporary materials or unpublished if possible.
