Location
The design is based on the connection between the house and its environment. It is located in the new neighborhood of Kufr Kanna “Bni Betkha”, on the top of Seikh mountain which is directed to the Galil mountains’ view.
In this project I had a challenge while dealing with the site problematic proportions.
The site is trapezoid and has a sharp slope that creates a 9 meters gap between the high and low level of it short track.
Concept
The house is based on three platforms that create a free element which gives the feeling that each platforms ends somewhere far in the horizon. Next to these flying platforms there is a system of walls that creates a privacy in the needed spaces of the house. The walls are of two kinds : constructive walls and curtain walls.
On the wide side of the site there is a “box” which functions as the intimate part of the house.
Composition
The element of the platforms was the first element to be posted in the site. Its goal is to keep the connection with the horizon , and since the house is based on a width movement, these platforms were stretched to the width.
The first platform is the street level which leads to the entrance, and it includes three passages : the first is the entrance . The second includes the living room with its open view to the mountains, and the third one is the “Box” that includes the kitchen. Concrete stairs separate the “Box” from the other spaces in the house. These stairs create the vertical motion in the house.
The second platform contains the privacy area: bedrooms and library.
The “Box” is an opaque element but still it is open in its internal facade into the house and it connects the lodger with the other spaces and with the view.
Via the internal window of the main bedroom there is a direct view to the garden and also there is a direct view to the upper balcony. This same effect exists also in the kitchen and that allows you to watch your children in the playing space.
