Located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in a neighborhood near the city center, this house was rebuilt to accommodate the needs and taste of a young couple.
The house rebuilt project follows the slope of the land, which makes the access in the house to be on the ground floor (where the master bedroom, bathroom and the dressing room are located), then descending to the basement where the modern & colorful open space kitchen, dining room and living room are revealed.
Through the living room area one can access the back garden where the swimming pool and barbecue area are located.
The main challenge was organizing the areas of the house so that every main space gets enough natural light.
As you enter the house, you get a peek at the mansard loft, which will be designed for the future children, including also a play area.
The 25sqm dressing acts like a privacy buffer between the entry hall and the master bedroom. Since the house is exposed to natural light only on one side, a mirror wall with cabinets was incorporated to bring more light into the space, as well as smoky glass hinged doors to the 3 main wardrobes.
The cabinets have a natural wood finish inside, LED lights and smoky glass fronts, designed to suit the client’s luxurious taste.
The master bedroom is well lit, which is why we could go for a dark color and wallpaper on the wall and ceiling.
A “secret” make-up and mirror cabinet was conceiled in the make-up table.
Downstairs, the modern kitchen, dining and living room are located.
To balance the dark greys, we choose some colorful soft seating: the blue velvet couch and the blush pink dining chairs.
Not having much space for a larger kitchen with more counter space we decided to conceal all small appliances in a cabinet next to the oven and coffee machine. The glass front of the cabinet slides, the shelf with the appliances can be pulled forward and locked into position.
