Inspired by the client's Scandinavian heritage, the mixed materials of stone, brick, and wood offer a modern adaptation to the North York neighborhood. Upon entering the foyer, guests are greeted by a double-sided fireplace which screens views to the dining room but is adjacent to a home office. Beyond the dining room is the combined living room and kitchen, with access to a guest bedroom. Of importance to the client's family was a large garage with mud room to accommodate custom cabinetry for hockey equipment and easy access into the kitchen. The upstairs is accessed by a switch-back stair from the dining room and leads to a large entertainment room which stretches from the front of house to rear. Arranged around the entertainment room are 4-bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
