Hartaanselänranta is a new, sustainable and future-oriented neighborhood that complements the existing urban structure of Oulu, Finland, and offers a vivid and versatile living environment that is built on both banks of the Oulujoki river delta. Northern nature, its changing seasons and the river delta with altering water level create an experiential environment that is exciting and universally accessible. The potential of the rich nature is utilised both to enhance the natural and spatial experience of the inhabitants and to provide visitors an interesting, multisensorial experience. Together with the nature, the built environment and its customised functions, targeted services and sustainable living solutions offer a unique delta lifestyle and an interesting recreational and travel destination. The vision enables Oulu to be a pioneer in carbon-neutral and flood-proof urban design and construction.
The project is a winning proposal to an invited design competition and it was made in collaboration with Nomaji Landscape Architects. The visualisations are by Janoušek & Havlíček visualisations.
