HARMONY IN FOLDS - Corporate Office for Mr. Shah at Ahmadabad
Set with a challenge to design a small office interior, office of Ar. Ramesh Patel & Associates, Ahmadabad (India) have shown restrain and creative flair using simple mathematical argumentation to delivers a very special project.
From onset, the architect focused on fundamental of office design i.e. to maximize penetration of natural light in (7m x3m) linear space as well as to achieve a fine balance between privacy and open layout.
A bank of clear glass partition facing north window allows for maximum light and open office layout. The workstations are laid out in symmetry with immaculate detailing around the partitions to achieve a refined design outcome void of any visual clutter.
A series of 50 mm thick teak wood floor to ceiling panels forms privacy screen. Entire length of screen is divided in 12 equal parts, and each part is rotated to 7.5 degree with respect to preceding part to complete 90 degree rotation of the panels and achieve a varing degree of screening and openness. Process of design is explained through drawings.
A similar transitional movement of the partition can be observed in the director’s table. A similar approach of generative rotation is carried out in the director table design.
The refined/simple material palette and bold detailing brings the concept to life.
