Green-HAB is a building systems prototype for rehabbing Baltimore’s row houses. The prototype re-configures the elements of construction common to rehab projects as a structurally and materially expressive building system. Perpetual layers of joint compound and paint are abandoned in favor of exposed materials including gypsum board, metal framing, homasote, wheat board, bamboo, and concrete, which are sustainable, available, and visually compelling. The design features a central skylight, sliding walls, and an open
plan with compact amenities demonstrating the spatial possibilities of even the smallest structures.
