Already a leader in cancer treatment, Froedtert Hospital expanded its current cancer program by creating a comprehensive facility that enhances the patient experience. Client goals stipulated that the facility have a freestanding presence, yet link to the current program and its abundant resources.
As the first phase of a comprehensive master facility plan, the addition connects existing facilities and allows the hospital to maintain many of the services that require complex and sensitive equipment. Patients requiring multiple services remain in one location, increasing efficiencies for staff. A large glass atrium welcomes guests by providing natural daylight and a visual connection to the outside. The hospital considers visitor access to outdoor areas a priority, and guests enjoy views of the neighboring wetlands through the glass facade. Radiation oncology, hematology, medical oncology, clinics, clinical research, faculty offices and patient and family support areas are key functions of the seven-story building.
