‘If you’ve committed to abiding in a city it is incumbent on you to work to improve your small corner.’ - Nic Brunsdon, 2nd February 2015, The Architect, Autumn 2015
Perth is our city, and we want to make it great. Here in our small corner of Australia, we are mostly forgotten by the world. The most isolated capital city on the planet, we are a tiny dot in the global architecture community. Nevertheless, we plan to put Perth on the map.
We want to create a way of thinking that is truly Western Australian. We want to develop our own ideas, born from tried and tested ways of doing things within our own landscape. We don’t want to follow the maxims of the masses before us: à la less is more and form follows function. We want to create our own, so that one-day others will follow in our footsteps, not us in theirs. When asked what we think of the latest Bjarke Ingels project we want to be able to respond – ‘we don’t’.
As designers we have the ability to be able to shape the future of Perth in a way that we all desire. As young graduates of architecture, we have a specific local focus, a desire to create new ways of thinking and designs that will impact our local built environment.
Our philosophy is drawn from the values, lifestyle and environs of Perth and its surrounds. We operate within several facets of design, including building design, landscaping and watch design.
For now we are a just a tiny piece of that small corner of Perth, but not matter how small it is, we’re here to make it better.
