Blue Sky Building Systems enables architects and builders to create light-gauge steel buildings featuring large open spaces that can be built quickly and which are far more green than traditional structures. Our core offering is the Blue Sky Frame™ (patent pending). The Blue Sky Frame is fabricated from cold-formed, high-tensile galvanized steel that is bolted together to form a very efficient and strong bi-directional, moment-resisting, point-loaded frame. The Blue Sky Frame offers a number of important advantages over other framing methods and materials. No load-bearing or shear walls are required (either interior or exterior) and no bracing or shear panels of any kind are required. That gives architects great latitude for the placement of doors and windows, and facilitates the creation of large open spaces and flexible floor plans. All elements of the Blue Sky Frame are delivered to the job site factory fabricated to the precise dimensions specified by architects and engineers so they are rapidly bolted together without the typical site measuring, cutting and drilling. No site welding is required. Buildings can be framed in days – not weeks or months. Unlike wood framing, the Blue Sky Frame is fire resistant; does not creep, crack or rot; does not foster mold; and is impervious to termites. The BlueSky Frame is perhaps the most eco-friendly way to frame a structure. Elements are manufactured using up to 70 percent recycled steel and at the end of their useful lifecycle are themselves 100 percent recyclable. There is no site waste whatsoever. All of the advantages of the BlueSky Frame become even more compelling when it is used on steep building sites. That’s because our frame concentrates all loads at its column points and those columns do not require a flat building pad – they can be attached to isolated footings sitting at varying heights. All of which can mean far less grading and other expensive site work. Finally, in an apples-to-apples comparison, the BlueSky Frame is comparable in cost to wood and structural steel framing.
