Ray has a passion for helping business owners \u2013 particularly architects \u2013 to realize their personal potential and that of their organization. During the talk, Ray presented four mistakes that he most often sees architects make in business, and how to solve them:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Failure to get basic business education and preferring the \u2018well meaning amateur\u2019 approach to business<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Lack of vision for their practice<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Letting the work alone speak for their practice<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. An inability to explain the value of architecture to their market<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In order to do so, he explains an approach to treating your practice as a project itself; in addition to designing, as an architectural business you should also give a dedicated amount of time each month to business tasks. For example, treating marketing as a regular task.<\/p>\n
