The high number of axes allows for an incredibly smooth additive process, producing curved forms with an amazing strength-to-weight ratio. Enter <a href=\"https:\/\/formlabs.com\/3d-printers\/form-2\/?utm_source=adwords&amp;utm_campaign=Search-Brand-Form2-Exact-US-GP&amp;utm_term=form_2_formlabs&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;gclid=CJf32Mj1sNACFRQbaQod02wF1w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Form 2 by Formlabs<\/a>, a high-end 3D printer that is small enough to sit on your desktop. This iterative process is often equated with the more familiar concept of parametric architecture, but generative design has the potential to go much further, moving beyond formal parameters to factor in data pertaining to health, comfort, visual stimulation, atmosphere and even emotion. While many of the examples on show pertained to industrial design \u2014 like the car above \u2014 the applications for architecture are incredibly compelling. The Surface Studio is everything the newest iMac should have been for architects and engineers: a full touchscreen display that can be transformed into a digital drafting board with a smooth pivoting motion. Now, Google\u2019s competitors are stepping up the game: <a href=\"http:\/\/go.nearmap.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nearmap<\/a> offers more up-to-date imagery and full integration with CAD programs, as well as sliders that allow you to instantly see how a site has changed over the years. Companies such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topconpositioning.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Topcon<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/3dr.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D Robotics<\/a> have taken UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) technology to another level, capturing high-resolution photography to generate 3D models with an unprecedented level of detail.
