Is This Norwegian Cabin the World’s Perfect Winter Retreat?

Architizer Editors Architizer Editors

Located in the remote Lyngen Alps, the Aurora Lodge by Snorre Stinessen Architecture is equal parts private retreat and a small lodge. The lodge comprises two separate units and terraces with breathtaking water views. With nature as the key inspiration for this project, the design endeavors to complement the site rather than obstruct it; as such, the main building stretches out across the natural plateau, just behind a single line of trees. Meanwhile, high ceilings and seamless glass walls invite the sky and landscape into the building.
