The Citizen -pavilion is a textile canopy commissioned by the Made in Kallio movement for the Flow-music festival in Helsinki. The pavilion was built to accommodate a restaurant and public activities such as polling and citizen initiatives.
The undulating forms levitate in an informal rhythm to cover the urban location of the skate park. The height and orientation of the space left underneath variates to create a series of unique moments. This was evident during the happenings: different groups gathered, and different themes took place in different areas under the single structure while the concrete stones provided seating.
One criteria for the structure re-erectability on a different site. The concrete founding stones support a light but rigid triangular steel skeleton, which enables the textile canopy be stable without stay ropes or cables - the typical space consuming solution. The pavilion was eventually moved from its original location Suvilahti skateboard -park and re-erected on Piritori in Sörnäinen / Helsinki.
