Spa Treatment: Wellness Products for Residential Baths

Sheila Kim

Recreating a spa-like environment in the home need not be a full-on renovation project. Even small touches can upgrade an ordinary bath space to a retreat. From larger comprehensive systems to simple accessories and luxurious fixtures, these products can help you begin injecting serenity into your next residential project.

Americh

Americh: Vibro Sonic Massage
The Vibro Sonic Massage (VSM) system isn’t a traditional Whirlpool or Jacuzzi with water jets. Instead, six evenly spaced massage nodes on one side of the tub target six pressure points on one’s back and offer adjustable speeds, pulsation, vibration, and sequences. Uniquely, the system is usable even without water so that one can enjoy a shiatsu-style massage without having to take a bath. The system is available on several of Americh’s bathtub models.

Aquaelite

Aquaelite: Rock
A flush, ceiling-mount showerhead, Rock boasts mist-spray, rainfall, and cascade jets that, activated together, create the sensation of standing at the base of a waterfall. Each model includes a stainless steel support frame and integrated RGB LEDs for chromotherapy.

Duravit

Duravit: Paiova 5
This ingenious tub designed by EOOS used to be limited to corner spaces until now. The revamped version can fit a variety of bath settings as a sculptural piece or built-in yet features the same oversized, polygonal shape and comfortable inclines for a relaxing soak. Optional flat swivel massage jets can be added in the backrests.

Effegibi

Effegibi: Logica
The Logica series (also shown at top) is a range of fully enclosed sauna, hammam, and combination (Logica Twin) systems that transform residential spaces into self-contained spas. The saunas are outfitted with wooden benches and a heater with stones, while the hammams have unglazed porcelain tile benches and an Aquasteam steam generator. All models feature built-in audio speakers, RGB LED lighting, and a shower area.

Graff

Graff: Ametis Ring
Winner of a 2015 A+Award, this eye-catching wall-mounted showerhead designed by Davide Oppizzi creates a luxurious rainfall or cascade stream from a slim-profile ring accompanied by six-color LED chromotherapy. The unit is available in polished chrome, architectural black, or architectural white, though custom finishes are also feasible.

Grohe and Philips

Grohe and Philips: Aquatunes
One very simple — and affordable — way to bring wellness into a bath space is to add a waterproof audio component for streaming music or soundscapes. This recently launched Bluetooth-integrated product combines the bath expertise of Grohe and the audio-electronics engineering of Philips to provide high-quality sound in the shower. The unit can be attached to existing shower rails (measuring 20 to 25 millimeters) or stand on a countertop or shelf.

ThermaSol

ThermaSol: Tranquility
Available in early 2016, this sound and visualization program for relaxation presents nine scenes on ThermaTouch seven-inch LCD controllers: Cascading Waterfall, Ocean Voyage, Island Getaway, Golden Sunset, Beach Zen, Crackling Fireplace, Spring Forest, and Spa Lights.

Vola

Vola: 080W Waterfall Shower
Ever elegant and architectural, the Vola brand strikes again with new additions conceived by Aarhus Arkitekterne. The slim cylindrical 080W showerhead produces a waterfall stream from a slit on one end while an inlet cylinder on the rear of the other end creates a visual counterweight. A coordinating shower “hose” is also available. Both Vola products are available through Hastings Tile and Bath.
