Pella Updates Its Architect Series Windows and Doors

Sheila Kim

Nearly two decades ago, window giant Pella made news when it launched its Architect Series, a line of finely crafted and detailed wood windows customized to each project’s individual specifications and aesthetic needs. Now the manufacturer has expanded the series with new hardware options and divvied up products into distinct categories — Architect Series Contemporary, Reserve and Traditional — to better serve architects and builders.

As you might expect, the Contemporary collection’s windows and patio doors feature clean sight lines and minimalist hardware to suit modern dwellings. Offering a selection of casement and awning windows, as well as hinged and sliding patio doors, Architect Series Contemporary products are finished in any of Pella’s complete exterior color palette. For the interior, a sleek black stain option is also available.

Meanwhile, the Architect Series Reserve is ideal for historically authentic homes, sporting traditional finishes while still offering all the performance of modern windows and patio doors. Some of the details you’ll be able to find within the Reserve collection are putty glaze grilles, vertical through-stile design and butt joinery.

Along similar lines, the Traditional series features rich decorative details for instilling historic character into homes. But this collection boasts an even more authentic look of divided lites (individual panes, that is) in a high-performing energy-efficient window or patio door. The units can be customized with beautiful intricate grill designs and ogee and putty glaze profiling and can be made into a range of shapes including semicircular.

Pella also announced that it’s expanding its hardware portfolio for the Architect Series by collaborating with leading hardware company Baldwin. Four collections of traditional to contemporary design will include products that utilize SmartKey Re-Key technology, which allows homeowners to rekey compatible locks in just 30 seconds without having to remove the lock entirely from the door.
