Elvis Is in the Building: Flavor Paper’s Warhol Collection, Part Deux

From regal Queen Mum to cheery flowers, beloved silkscreen imagery by Andy Warhol made an easy transition into the wall-coverings market when, two years ago, Flavor Paper launched its Andy Warhol x Flavor Paper collection. Initially, it comprised the aforementioned along with other best-known works such as Shoes and The Last Supper. Following that success, the Brooklyn-based wallpaper studio expanded the line this year with Glamericana, a grouping that reimagines the glamorous subjects of Warhol’s.

Elvi, shown in three colorways.

The King, for one, is rendered in two different designs: Elvi sports a repeating pattern of Elvis Presley’s portrait and can be specified in Blue Suede, Fire Red, Graphite, or White. Each is hand-screened onto matte clay-coated paper with traditional paper backing. The large-scale Elvis, meanwhile, is a seven-foot-tall mural showcasing Warhol’s portrayal of gunslinger Elvis. To pack even more visual punch, this design is printed onto a glittery Silver Flash wall fabric.

Marilyn Monroe makes an appearance in this second installment, as well. Marilyn Monoprint is a large-scale portrait pattern available in four blended-color inks on mylar. The smaller-scale Marilyn Reversal is a single color print offered in four colorways. And, finally, Marilyn’s Lips showcase, well, the actress’s lips for a sultry result that might induce some to nosh on Twizzlers.

Selfie

But the man behind the iconic works steals the spotlight in the aptly named Selfie. Reproductions of the numerous Polaroid snapshots the artist took of himself are collaged into a mural. Selfie is printed onto eco-friendly, PVC-free EZ Papes, which is pre-pasted with a water-activated adhesive for faster installation. Additionally, the 24-inch-wide wallpaper is water strippable for easy removal and minimal damage to walls. Because this covering is slightly transparent, Flavor Paper recommends priming walls white prior to installation.
