Sheila Kim Sheila Kim

The classic bathroom elements of white ceramic fixtures, marble vanity tops, wood-simulating cabinets and metallic-finish faucets and fittings aren’t the only games in town recently. Color is creeping back into the bath in tasteful ways — and we’re not talking about tile or chromatherapy systems.

Bette: Bettelux Shape
A series of beautiful freestanding tubs and washbasins that sit on metal frames, Bettelux Shape (also shown at top) allows for color mixing and matching. For instance, the tub and washbasins come in glossy white or black, and the cubic frames in black, white, taupe, mint, sky or rose.

Blu Bathworks: Blu Stone Freestanding Bathtub
Essentially a sleek and sexy black box, the seamless six-foot-long unit offers a deep soak and can alternatively be recessed into an alcove. It features an integral overflow slot and matching Blu Stone drain cover.

The minimalist, single-lever faucet has a chrome finish, but its handle can be specified in a choice of several contrasting colors ranging from orange and yellow to green and blue. Models include both deck- and wall-mounted spouts.

Graff: Ametis Single-Handle Lavatory Faucet
Graff offers this mixer in an “architectural” black or white finish. In addition to the striking matte finish, it sports a bold curvilinear shape and optional integrated LED illumination that indicates water temperature with blue and red hues. The unit comes in both a deck- and wall-mounted version.

Hastings Tile and Bath: Flower Tub
This dramatic freestanding tub has a glossy white interior, but its exterior is a bright fire-engine red. Crafted by glass artisans in Tuscany, the piece combines acrylic with resin and glass pigments. It measures 30¾ inches deep by 68-7/8 inches wide, and its height runs from 23¼ to 36-5/8 inches. (It is also available in gold leaf, black and silver leaf).

Hidrobox by Absara: Space Freestanding Bathtub
It’s got a common oval shape, but its color options give it a one-of-a-kind appearance. The interior of this acrylic piece stays white, but the exterior can be ordered in a number of RAL colors such as this aqua-blue tone.

Kohler: Archer
Kohler offers a number of its products in Thunder Gray, including the Archer shower base. Measuring 60 inches wide by 36 inches deep, the acrylic tray has beveled edges and a single threshold center drain with a matching removable cover.

Robern: Cartesian
At last month’s Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas, Robern unveiled this highly modular vanity that’s customized by using varied preset sizes and “building blocks.” But also among its customizable options is the finish, which can range from ocean blue and matte gray to mirror and satin bronze glass.

Ronbow: Square Ceramic Vessel Sink 200005 (Without Overflow)
This vessel is defined by an elegant tapered-side form — and stylish, on-trend hues. The 16-5/16-inch-square sink comes in an ordinary white, of course, but also black, cool gray, medium blue, sky blue and pear green.
