Concrete. Need we say more? Architect-turned-DIY-entrepreneur Ben Uyeda put his own spin on the A-frame house with this concrete-and-wood structure made just for pets. In addition to a comprehensive how-to video (below), you can find written instructions and a list of materials and tools on his blog, HomeMade Modern.

YouJustDo’s Modern Pet Bed

International DIY tutorial website YouJustDo produces sped-up videos and written instructions for creating home décor and hobby items ranging from bird feeders and house-number plaques to quirky lamps and this modern pet bed. Best of all, the site and videos are available in English, German, French or Spanish.

We’re truly impressed that a full-time student such as Mike Montgomery has the time to run his own design-build blog, Modern Builds. To date, he’s created not one, but two modern doghouse projects for outdoor settings.

Judson Beaumont’s pet campers

Expert craftsman and designer Judson Beaumont, founder of Straight Line Designs, has been creating whimsical and delightful furnishings and installations for clients ranging from Vancouver International Airport to Disney Cruise Lines, but he’s also world-renowned for introducing some of the first-ever pet trailers. They’ve since been revamped to be more environmentally friendly with materials including recyclable aluminum and plywood.

Deesawat’s daybed with dog den

During Milan Design Week 2016, outdoor furniture brand Deesawat showed off a stunning daybed cabana design that incorporates a modular dog den that can be repositioned to any side or at the center between the daybed’s seat cushions. The slatted den, which also functions as a side table, sports openings in the top and sides and a round window in the front.

Seungji Mun’s Pet House with Pet Bed

Copenhagen-based Korean furniture designer Seungji Mun devised two fabulous concepts with decidedly Scandinavian feels. The smaller of the two is Pet House with Pet Bed. The design pairs a simple birch plywood A-frame house–shaped cubby with a perfectly fitting fabric cushion in a variety of colors.

Meanwhile, Mun’s Dog House Sofa solves a space issue by integrating an occasional table — that doubles as a pet hideaway — into a sofa.

RAH:DESIGN’s MDK9 Dog Haus

Absolutely amazing, MDK9 Dog Haus rivals many a modern house with its cantilevering overhang rendered in Brazilian teak, concrete plinth (with casters on the bottom) and powder-coated perforated steel screen. Offered by design-build studio RAH:DESIGN at a hefty price, it also boasts an integrated feeder and an optional memory foam bed and custom nameplate.
