Back in the day, residential designers on a budget used to loathe having to specify laminate as opposed to real stone or solid surfacing on a kitchen countertop. But today, there’s a bumper crop of more realistic-looking options available, such as the designs of the new Maison family of products from Arborite. The leading Canadian manufacturer has been known for its commercial laminate for more than 60 years, and, now, it’s turning its attention to the residential market — with an emphasis on kitchens — in introducing Maison.
This new umbrella is launching with two curated lines that impressively mimic the look and character of natural and composite stones and other desirable countertop materials.
The first, Panorama, was originally launched only in Canada with six patterns but is now available across North America, with both the original offerings as well as seven new designs. The line recreates the unique imperfections and veining found in real materials using full-scale scans of handpicked stone slabs (think: Arabescato marble and Roman travertine) or industrial surfaces (from wet cement to oxidized metal).
Meanwhile, the second Maison line, dubbed Welcome Home, emulates composite stone materials that have become hugely popular in kitchen settings today, from quartz surfacing to granite, in neutral palettes.
All of the laminates are GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality-certified.
