What’s considered a New York City institution of sorts, the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) — a designer’s paradise stocked with new products from both established and fledgling brands — is for the first time making its way south. On October 5 and 6, the inaugural ICFF Miami will map the newest frontier of what’s best — and what’s next — in design at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Anglepoise
More than 130 exhibitors spread across 25,000 square feet will display the latest in contemporary furniture, lighting, carpet and flooring, materials, wall coverings and textiles, accessories and residential and commercial kitchen and bath. Highlights include historic British lighting company Anglepoise’s cheeky giant task lamp–style floor and wall luminaires that lend a whimsical touch to the outdoors; Julien’s new and innovative Fira fireclay kitchen-sink series; Designer Doorware’s perfect marriage of cool metals and warm woods in its refined, modern Monte Timber lever collection; and the Patrick Norguet–designed Naïve, part of Slimtech’s large-format laminated porcelain offerings suitable for cladding and flooring.
Julien
Like the New York City counterpart, ICFF Miami will not only introduce new contemporary designs but also offer insightful and thought-provoking talks and presentations by renowned industry leaders as well as emerging voices. The first woman to become both a fellow of the AIA and IIDA, Lauren Rottet will discuss strategy for women leaders alongside Kim Kuhteubl, author and founder of interior design branding company MeByDesign. The growing trend of architects-turned-makers will be explored in Manufacturing Design, a presentation by Arthur Lasky, principal of Silberstang Lasky Architects and president of HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplaces. And Stantec director of hospitality Susan LeFleur will speak on understanding and incorporating multifunctional and multipurpose spaces to address clients’ shrinking real-estate footprints.
