The A+List: The 225 Best Architecture and Design Firms in the World Right Now

Architizer is proud to present the eighth edition of the A+List, the definitive directory of high-quality architecture and design firms.

Architizer Editors Architizer Editors

Architizer is thrilled to announce the world’s best architecture firms in 2026 — all winners of the 14th Annual A+Awards! This year’s program honors a global resurgence in architectural craft — not as nostalgia, but as a response to the homogenizing pressures of an increasingly automated world. From vernacular materials deployed with contemporary rigor to precision-engineered timber systems designed for disassembly, the 14th A+Awards celebrates the architects who understand that the most radical thing a building can do today is mean something specific to the place it stands.

In addition to celebrating some of the most innovative, recently completed architectural projects around the globe, Architizer’s A+Awards also serve as an incredible indicator of which designers will be at the forefront of innovation in the coming year. In recognition of this fact, Architizer is delighted to present the much-anticipated eighth edition of the coveted A+List, an annual rundown of every firm that scooped an A+Award and A+Firm Award in the previous season.

The A+List serves as a comprehensive guide to the world’s best architecture firms and is updated annually based on the results of the annual A+Awards program. (You can see last season’s A+List here.) The following document is arranged alphabetically, with more information available by clicking on the link to each firm’s profile. We’ve also curated a selection of featured firms, providing additional background on their A+Award triumphs.

Carazo Arquitectura is a Costa Rican architecture firm founded in 2005 by Rodrigo Carazo, based in the heart of San José and specializing in innovative mid- and high-rise projects informed by a design philosophy the studio calls Tropical Vertical Urbanism. Working from a native perspective on the country’s natural wealth — and treating that context as both an obligation and a design resource — Carazo has extended its practice from Costa Rica into Peru, Guatemala, and El Salvador, adapting each project to its specific site and climate. Every project is processed through five interlocking axes: specific design at the highest level of quality, environmentally sustainable design, economically sustainable design, socially sustainable design, and innovation in the methodologies and tools of the region.

EKAR

Mae On Art Forest by EKAR, Mae On District, Thailand | Popular Vote Winner, Sustainable Adaptive Reuse or Renovation Project, 14th Annual A+Awards

EKAR is a Thai architecture practice founded in 2014 by Ekaphap Duangkaew, a Chiang Mai native, and operating from studios in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Rather than pursuing a self-consciously “Thai style,” the firm treats culture as something to be continually reinterpreted rather than frozen in place — grounding each project in the specific conditions of its site through the coexistence of old and new materials, narratives that echo the past, and a direct response to nature, society, culture, behavior, and time. Every EKAR project reads as a piece of research combining science and art, calibrated to produce a sense of place that expands the boundaries of design across Thai society at large.

K-Thengono Design Studio is an integrated architecture and interior practice founded in Jakarta in 2019 by Kelvin Thengono, following his training at California College of the Arts and his work with major architectural firms in the United States. Across residential, commercial, hospitality, and cultural projects, the studio treats each site as a specific brief in Indonesian tropical modernism, drawing on local heritage, craftsmanship, and vernacular techniques to shape form and construction. Contextual responsiveness runs through the practice’s method: careful reading of climate and culture, natural light and ventilation, and access to water are prioritized as instruments of well-being that connect inhabitants to their surroundings.

Väsby School Canteen by Marge Arkitekter, Upplands Väsby, Sweden

Marge Arkitekter was established in 2002 by Pye Aurell Ehrström, Katarina Grundsell, Louise Masreliez, and Susanne Ramel, quickly becoming recognized as one of the young Swedish firms representing a contemporary development of architecture in the country. The 36-person practice works at every scale — from town planning through architecture to interior fittings and product design — and its portfolio spans private, commercial, and public projects across Sweden, with exhibitions and press coverage extending across Europe and beyond. A spatially exploratory sensibility runs through the work: a conceptual design process, socially and environmentally sustainable values, a clean and sparing approach to space, and a signature punctuation of color and inventive use of materials that gives each project its charge.

NOIZ Co.

Popular Vote Winner, 14th Annual A+Awards, Pavilion

null² by NOIZ, Osaka, Japan | Popular Vote Winner, 14th Annual A+Awards, Pavilion

noiz / architecture, design and planning was founded in 2007 by Keisuke Toyoda and Jia-Shuan Tsai — with Kosuke Sakai joining as partner in 2016 — and takes its name from the observation that new forms of music in their infancy have often been taken as noise: an everyday reminder of the firm’s commitment to unique and insightful design solutions. Operating from Tokyo, Taipei, and Warsaw, the studio has become recognized as a front-runner in computational methods across a practice that spans architecture, interior design, digital art installations, furniture design, and computational design consultation. Grounded in the founders’ international experience across Japan, China, Taiwan, and the United States — Toyoda’s background includes Tadao Ando Architect & Associates and SHoP Architects — noiz works at the intersection of physical space and digital technique, treating each project as a chance to test how emerging tools reshape architectural possibility.

Residência Embaúbas by Padovani Arquitetos, Bragança Paulista, Brazil

Padovani Arquitetos is a Brazilian architecture and design office founded in 2008 by Lucas Padovani after studies and professional work in Spain, operating from studios in São Paulo and Campinas. Grounded in the modernist heritage of Brazilian architecture, the practice designs residential and design projects marked by elegance and simplicity — a contemporary language expressed through wood, stone, brise soleils, and materials chosen to patinate over time — always in intense dialogue with the tropical landscape in which each project sits. Working through an integrated multidisciplinary team, the studio pursues the specific character of each commission by matching technical response to conceptual poetics and client needs, treating architecture as an experience calibrated to the people who will inhabit and interact with it.

Rossetti+Wyss architects

Popular Vote Winner, 14th Annual A+Awards, Best Small Firm (6 – 15 employees)

Rossetti+Wyss Architekten was founded in Zurich in January 2000 by Nathalie Rossetti and Mark Aurel Wyss, and works across architecture and urbanism as a multilayered dialogue between space, human, and time. From the renovation of the Cabaret Voltaire — birthplace of Dada in Zurich — through new residential and commercial buildings across Switzerland to conversions and property development, the practice pursues a formal language of the reduced, the essential, and the immediate, drawing on reference points as varied as Minimal Art and Arte Povera and giving equal weight to material aesthetics, the effect of light, and spatial order. Guided by what the founders call “the art of intervention,” the firm reinterprets archetypal forms so that the unforeseen may emerge from the familiar — producing an architecture that is calm and restrained, consistent rather than loud, and oriented toward the durable rather than the temporary.

Ström Architects

Popular Vote Winner, 14th Annual A+Awards, Private House (L 4000 – 6000 sq ft)

Porthmadog House by Strom Architects, Wales, United Kingdom | Popular Vote Winner, Private House (L 4000 – 6000 sq ft), 14th Annual A+Awards

Ström Architects was founded in 2010 by Swedish architect Magnus Ström in England’s New Forest, with a second studio in the Turks and Caicos Islands co-founded and led by Kyle Barclay, and works on bespoke private houses, multi-residential developments, and high-end hospitality projects across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East. The practice pairs its architecture with a full interior design service, and takes on a limited number of the right commissions each year — a habit that has produced work in Sweden, Finland, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, the USA, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, and across the Caribbean, drawing on genuine fluency in different planning systems, construction cultures, and climates. Grounded in a Scandinavian tradition that treats function and beauty as complements rather than competitors, the studio pursues buildings that feel inevitable — edited relentlessly until nothing is added for effect and nothing kept out of habit — with the goal, in Ström’s words, of “a building that improves the life lived inside it.”

Babel by V Taller, Tulum, Mexico | Jury Vote Winner, 14th Annual A+Awards, Multi Unit Housing – Low Rise (1 – 4 Floors)

V Taller is a Mexican architecture studio led by co-founders Daniel Villanueva and Miguel Valverde, working from the premise that architecture happens where culture meets nature. Drawing on local traditions to shape spaces that reflect identity and belonging, the practice integrates its sites through the design levers of light, void, and texture — and through material choices such as tropical wood carpentry, handcrafted clay vessels, and white linen textiles that lend each project an artisanal, contextual sensibility, most recently realized at the Babel complex in Tulum. Every project is treated as a living narrative connecting past, present, and future, seeking a balance between cultural diversity and natural environment that transcends the individual commission.

Gelareh by ZAV Architects, Kouhsar, Iran | Popular Vote Winner, 14th Annual A+Awards, Architecture +Color

ZAV Architects was founded in Tehran in 2006 by Mohamadreza Ghodousi and Parsa Ardam — its name a Persian word that roughly translates to “builder” — and works from the premise that architecture is the design of an extended process rather than the production of an object. The practice reimagines that process to rediscover at-hand and forgotten resources, drawing on the locally available workforce to transform initial materials into adaptable spaces, in the tradition of Iranian villages where ordinary wool colored with pomegranate skin and dyer’s madder becomes an invaluable carpet through craft. That approach — recently recognized with the 2025 Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the Majara Residence on Hormuz Island — embraces whatever outcome emerges, however unsolicited, as what the studio calls adopted aesthetics: an architecture that mediates between state, investors, and local communities on equal terms.
