Architizer During Lockdown: A Letter from the Editor

Dear Architizer Followers,

It’s been a month since lockdowns began across the US and beyond to slow the spread of COVID–19, leaving many in the architecture community having to work, live and cope in relative isolation. For people that thrive on in-person collaboration and communication, this is especially difficult, and we commend every architect for their efforts to stay connected and inspire each other during this time.

At Architizer, every one of us is keenly aware of just how much our platform’s success is down to you, the hardworking members of the AEC industry, sharing your work and engaging with us in a myriad of ways. For this reason, we wanted to reach out to you directly to let you know what we’re working on throughout this challenging period:

• Our content team is working to keep readers updated on the latest Coronavirus-related industry news, including ways in which the design community is developing products and structures that will help combat the virus. We will continue to consider new additions to our COVID–19 design guide moving forward, so please continue to send related concepts and projects to us at editorial@architizer.com.
  
• We’re also continuing to produce guides to remote working for architects, and publishing case studies of design firms who have successfully transitioned to a “work from home” model during the health crisis.
• We’re ramping up our celebration of high quality architecture and the teams behind it by extending the 8th Annual A+Awards, with a new Final Entry Deadline of May 8th, 2020. Consider submitting your most recent projects for this season’s program — it has never been a better time to increase your firm’s exposure online, and winners have the opportunity to be promoted year-round on Architizer. Architecture winners will also be published internationally in the next edition of Phaidon’s iconic compendium “The World’s Best Architecture.”
  
• We’re hosting the One Photo Challenge, our first ever competition dedicated to architectural photography, which is open for entries through May 1st, 2020. We hope this competition will spark creative thinking and provide the community with fresh inspiration during this time, particularly after the incredible response we had to the inaugural One Drawing and One Rendering Challenges (which will run again later this year!)

We hope all of these initiatives will help you continue to engage with your community and stimulate your creativity throughout the next few weeks. Now more than ever, we want to thank you for uploading your projects, sharing your stories and inspiring us with your work — and we look forward to celebrating all that you do in the days ahead.
