Architizer’s Affiliate FAQ

A quick guide to Architizer’s affiliate agreement policy.

Architizer Editors

Architizer is constantly on the look out for tools and products that help spark architects’ creativity and do their job more efficiently. To help sustain us as we build our platform and continue to provide great content for our readers, we are enrolled in a number of affiliate agreements that mean we earn a commission on some of the products sold via affiliate links on the Journal.

What is an “affiliate link”?

An affiliate link is a specific URL that contains the affiliate’s ID or username, which affiliate partners can use to refer people to that site. In affiliate programs, advertisers use affiliate links to record the traffic that is sent to the advertiser’s website. The referrer then earns a commission for each sale that is generated from this traffic. The percentage of each sale that constitutes the commission varies from company to company, as do the terms and conditions of each affiliate agreement.

Do your affiliate commissions make you biased?

There’s no incentive for us to pick inferior products or respond to pressure from manufacturers — in fact, it’s quite the opposite. If readers return their purchases because they’re dissatisfied or the recommendation is bad, we make nothing and our own reputation takes a knock. Therefore, we only recommend products as a result of our research, analysis, interviews and testing, with the overriding aim of surfacing tools and products that our audience will appreciate and find genuinely useful.

What if we disagree with your recommendations?

The most important thing to us is the trust we have from our audience. We invite you to fact-check our pieces and tell us whenever you think a recommendation is inconsistent with your expectations on quality. There’s also no pressure to buy from our site or take our opinions as gospel — each guide lays out all the evidence for why we made our picks so you can judge for yourself.
