Abandoned this, abandoned that. It never gets old, but every once in a while one comes across a scene of ruin porn that is exceptionally good — definitively different in its context and appealing for the apocalyptic visions it proposes. This abandoned mall in Bangkok, Thailand is one such place. Empty for almost 15 years, the space is now filled with a sea of koi and catfish.

As an added bonus, the mall might be haunted, having been destroyed by a fire in which several people were killed. Rumored to be arson by a competitor, the former crime scene has since become an "urban aquarium" after someone introduced the exotic species of fish when the basement flooded.
Chef and blogger Jesse Rockwell found the abandoned mall while traveling in the city, located in a discreet area in the old town of Bangkok. He has not posted the location of the mall, which is eerily hidden behind a gate with a "no entrance whatsoever" sign. Locals discourage people from visiting the mall, and Rockwell had to wait for a policeman to leave before going inside. The ruined site has remained under the radar since 1997, when zoning laws required the original 11 stories to be reduced to four.
