Located on the rezoned former slaughterhouse of the city, the project called for a mixed-use kindergarden and day care facility for the growing number of young urban families moving back to the city. Aside from conservation of the old building facade and parts of historical walls around the site, the proposal doubles the volume on the old two story house, allowing for a generous playground space. The building follows the old facade scheme on the old slaughterhouse site, and extends/opens to the playground side with big, oversized bay windows- one for every individual class room. These windows allow for a "presentation face" to the outside, while inside the different classrooms are separated by glas walls, hoping transparency adds for a more cohesive atmosphere between kids, teachers parents and the surrounding environment.
