The South Campus Housing at Arizona State University is a residential campus for 1,700 upper-class and graduate students, with supporting commercial, social and recreational activities and parking for approximately 1,700 cars. The pedestrian campus is organized around two north-south routes: a greenway and commercial mall connecting across Apache Boulevard from the main ASU campus, and a long promenade providing secure access to all the residences.
A rich, indigenous landscape ties all the South Campus functions together in a character consistent with the recently completed McAllister Academic Village and the currently in-process design for the Barrett Honors Residential College.
South Campus Housing accommodations include 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom apartments, all with private bedrooms and bathrooms. The architecture is responsive to climate and the intensity of the sun, with sun-shaded balconies and screening devices and a rich palette of deep colors so often associated with sun-cultures.
Organized around a public square and commercial court connecting to the campus and the city, this is an intensely “desert-landscaped” residential community for undergraduate and graduate students at a major southwest university. A pedestrian thoroughfare provides secure access to all residences.
