This is a design for a mixed-use housing complex in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. It began with an exercise exploring new ways in which private spaces and public spaces relate to each other volumetrically. This exploration led to the intervention of public spaces as a series of large stepped terraces on the south side of two adjacent buildings and as a large exterior throughway, both fostering the growth of multiple scales of communities along a gradient between public and private volumes.Copyright © 2011 Zachary Finstrom
