The project consists of the design of the interior decorations on marble. The technique used to create the Casanova collection is that of etching, a very ancient calcographic technique used to etch marble slabs with acid (also known in the Middle Ages as acqua fortis, from where it gets its Italian name) to createthe patterns typical of these surfaces. The etching technique, used commonly in prehistoric eras on stone and in classic times on Greek ceramics and metal decoration, has been used widely over the centuries and into modern times as an artistic decoration, and in architecture on a wide range of materials.
