Having a home in a neighborhood filled with similarly designed houses can feel very monotonous. To transform this bungalow located at Kulai in Malaysia, Code Red Studio was tasked to demolish and completely redesign the home to create two individually designed spaces at the front and rear, bringing the house to life.
Each space is designed with its own spatial interpretation, the front designed for more privacy whereas the rear provides a more open and accessible interpretation of space. With the key design requirement focused on safety, the front was redesigned with a more monotone, angular design. The raw look of the concrete structure with its minimalist windows helps ensure greater privacy while projecting a modern approach to the overall design of this bungalow.
In direct contrast to the front, the back of this house approaches the use of space in an open manner. The U-shaped layout contradicts the first impressions that the house is designed as a solid block. Designed to capitalize on views of a golf course past the boundary at the rear, the interior opens up to the outdoors with full height windows, balconies, and bay windows incorporated into its overall design.
