Envision a gateway that graces the skyline of Taichung City as a testimony to and a celebration of Taiwanese technology and culture. An object that through its design generates enough energy to sustain itself and the facilities in the park. An object that presents the history and culture of Taiwan to the world.

A rich cultural heritage and the visions of a sustainable future are prominent themes for Taichung City. We wish to express both these themes in the elevations of the building. To achieve this we envisage the use of a double skinned arch. The outer skin of the arch houses sustainable energy installation elements in its façade as a testimony to the future. Generating enough energy for the building and surrounding facilities. An inner arch presents the cultural heritage of Taichung City to the world. A story of its history engraved into perforated elements cover the elevation. Together they form The Spirit Of Taiwan.
