Project Details:
Client From : New South Wales, Australia
Industry: Construction and Mining.
Main Purpose:
To provide Steel Detailing and shop drawings Services using Tekla for construction of pedestrian bridge on the busiest highway in New South Wales, Australia.
Software Used:
TEKLA
Challenges
TEKLA models and shop drawings had to be delivered within a tight time line so that it could be handed over for fabrication
Finding perfect levels to generate structural connections was also a challenge.
There were frequent changes in the design and detail from clients end, this lead to frequent revisions and iterations.
Structural inputs had very few connections, steel members were presented in the form of line drawings.
Architectural drawings provided as input were not up to the mark, as they did not include detailed information about steel members and their location
Engineering Solution
Architectural and structural drawings received as inputs were examined.
Steel beam-column connections were generated and approved by structural engineers at clients end.
Level of connections were determined in a TEKLA model within the given timeframe.
The design changed more than a couple of times. All these changes were incorporated in the models.
Output files in the form of arrangement drawings, assembly drawings and structural drawings were prepared were handed over for fabrication.
Benefits
As the project was handed over within the specified time frame of 45 days, client could fulfil the commitment of executing the project and completing it within the desired time frame.
Project deliveries as committed helped client maintain face value, and earn good in the industry.
One project prerequisite was that bridge fabrication had to be done without causing any disturbance to the traffic on highway.
Client could fulfil this extremely challenging task, this helped make a good impression on the government of NSW.
