Located in a private garden in north-west side of Tehran, this swimming pool project sits on a flat area atop of a small hill with views of the surrounding gardens and the city in the distance.
The client demand was a swimming pool inside of the main building in north-west side of the garden while there was an old irrigation pool in the middle of the garden that was almost useless. For better use of the garden space, we decided to transform the irrigation pool into an outdoor swimming pool with designing an adequate space for sauna, Jacuzzi, and other related spaces such as lockers, showers, washrooms and a spacious deck for sunbathing and diving.
Since this building is exactly on the main axes of the garden, we design it as a kiosk (a kind of building in Iranian traditional gardens). There are some parameters that distinguish a kiosk from the other buildings: four facades, a void in main façade, and reflection of the building image on water surface. In designing of this building we consider of these parameters.
The other issue is to develop a mutual interaction between architecture and existent landscape. Therefore, the whole building and a part of environment simultaneously are wrapped into a continuous surface which is connected to the pool from one side and green area from the other side. The gap which is developed by this interaction, is filled by the water creating a unique illusion in the process. This is completed by a spacious deck that overlooking the pool. The reflection of the building on the water surface emphasis the connection between architecture and the nature.
