The new 354,162-SF Severna Park High School is comprised of a multistory building with a variety of single story elements. The school building components form an open courtyard at the core, share two entrance lobbies, and are linked by passage corridors. In addition to the new building, a separated bus loop, parent drop-off area and parking facilities will also be included. The design is based on a feasibility study GWWO completed for the high school in 2011.
The new building was constructed in a single phase on the grounds of the existing Severna Park High School, while the existing school remained fully operational. After construction, the existing facility was demolished, and new athletic fields were constructed in its place. The school achieved LEED Silver certification.
