Olson Kundig Architects worked closely with the design from Shinsegae and international artist Do Ho Suh to create a 20,000 square foot secret garden for children and families. Located on the rooftop of a shopping center, this lush garden is an oasis of trees, plants and flowers comprised exclusively of species native to South Korea.
Within the garden is a series of "secret" discoveries for visitors to make: an art installation by Do Ho Suh, a mist garden, a maze garden, a wading pool and several tree houses that visitors can climb and play inside. The garden offers both contemplative and active areas in which children can explore, climb, splash and play while surrounded by fanciful bird and animal sculptures made from reclaimed lumber and found materials.
