The project scope for the recently completed construction of Seaford Post Office Main Entrance and Building Facade Renovation included the complete remediation of the existing building exterior due to substantial deterioration of the masonry brick veneer. Stabilizing the existing brick veneer was a major factor in the construction of the new facade.
After researching several means to protect the existing damaged brick facade, the WFC design team ultimately selected a Pressure Equalizing Rain Screen Facade System that utilizes a beautifully flawless, terra cotta tile cladding system. As a total solution, the rain screen system eliminates the negative pressures that are common causes of water infiltration in standard masonry wall construction, and in this case, the main problem with the deteriorated brick facade.
The main entrance design was implemented to more clearly define and ‘open up’ the main entrance way for the postal patrons. The design and construction of the Seaford Post Office Main Entrance and Building Facade Renovation has transformed a rectilinear, non-descript, circa 1960’s masonry building into a first of its kind, distinctive emblem that is now boldly represented on the street front.
