School of art with 16 classes and 25 collectives flats in the center of Calais, France.
The project is located downtown in a derelict space occupied by an old commercial mall. By choosing such space to develop an ambitious project putting together an Art School and flats, the town wished to show its intention to revitalise its downtown area.
The project brings together in a unique framework an art school and 25 flats. These are not two separate buildings, but a project composed of two programs carried out with the same ambition and inventiveness of renewal for the heart of town. The flats are like houses placed on the roof, they offer a unique architectural response adapted to the needs of a new way of living in the city centre.
The gateway housing is made of mixed metal and wooden structure system. The cover and the housing façades Copper Gold varnished finish. The flat roofs are an extensive, vegetated complex.
