The ecological transition is on-going.
It's a necessary answer to the rather quick and sometimes violent changes of our climate as well as our biological and social balance. In order to create new urban practices in the dense urban fabric of Paris's 18th arrondissement, our project has brought together an unexpected team, including a fearless developer, a dynamic community of future inhabitants, a daring social housing landlord, an associative and ecological nursery, committed architects, and an engineering offices.
The program has been planned to mix generations of people from different social and family backgrounds: social housing is intertwined with private dwellings, places are shared (a guest room, a community hall and kitchen, a workshop, gardens and greenhouses). Moreover, local schools, retirement homes and associations are free to come and help farm the vegetable gardens on the rooftops.
The rooftop garden extends through the elongated plot (9m x 126m) and connects every staircase and every flat. Offering a view upon the landscape of the Parisian rooftops and Montmartre, the garden embodies a new urban way of life, including a circular and collaborative economy, rainwater management, composting, and farming.
