The new Bob and Edna Meadows Regional Cancer Care Center was designed for Provena Saint Joseph Hospital, Elgin, IL.
This two-story, 26,000 s.f. facility includes radiation treatment on the lower level and infusion (chemotherapy) on the upper level. The project features several innovations in the treatment of cancer patients, including garden terraces that allow patients to receive their infusion treatments in a protected outdoor setting. Also, treatment bays are separated by decorative partitions with sliding pocket doors. When opened, these doors allow patients to converse during their many hours of treatment; when closed, they provide privacy for patients desiring quiet.
