An international consumer product, development, and supply chain company establishes its US headquarters in a three-story 30,000 sq ft. landmark building. The design exploits the existing building’s generous open plan, copious east/west natural light, and close proximity to Interstate 280, by optimizing the building’s transparency.
Slated to achieve LEED-CI Gold designation, the redesigned interiors include state-of-the-art prototyping laboratories, naturally lighted work stations, conference, training rooms, and a presentation hall fully outfitted with advanced interactive teleconferencing, audio visual and lighting infrastructure.
A simple palette of finely detailed white oak, glass, and painted steel elements was selected to counterpoint the patina of the original concrete and steel sash finishes - introducing 21st century design and technology into a 20th century container. The building’s facades were restored in a warm monochromatic dark grey to offer a distinct presence by day and communicate a glowing hive of activity by dark.
PCH’s operations are distilled into a sophisticated, efficient, high profile container that conveys a commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship.
