56-58 rue Vieille du Temple is located in the heart of the Marais, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris – a popular neighbourhood for fashion boutiques and art galleries. PCA’s new agency replaced an old printing office that was located in a courtyard of a 1950’s building. The project saw the restoration of a workshop and an adjoining building into an innovative office.
A partial demolition allows for open-space work areas to be built around an internal courtyard. This design change sees a flood of natural light in the belowground floor office space.
The intellectual reflections lead by PCA on new workspaces, documented by the publication of Stream 02 After-Office, has been put into practice with the notion of transparency and communication by creating vast open-spaces all the while preserving various private areas such as a library and various meeting rooms. A favourable work environment has been created, providing comfortable working conditions for staff and collaborators, increasing the productivity for collective work as well as individual reflection.
