HONORED WITH SILVER URBAN QUALITY AWARD 2011 Creating the park on the “Gleisdreieck” south of Potsdamer Platz in Berlin will initiate the reincorporation of this area into the cityscape; it formed an exclave separate from its surroundings due to its use by railroads since the middle of the 19th century. The impressive vastness and rare abstraction of the plateau-like terrain on the Gleisdreieck are representing the initial points of the draft.
A multifunctional and flexibly designable park framework on the borders draws attention to two unusually ample meadow clearings. In doing so, the precise spatial structure of a tree-lined framework and an open clearing enables a sense of density and vastness in the open space.
The impressive skyline of the Potsdamer Platz and the urban atmosphere of the yellow subways within reach, the park on the Gleisdreieck sees itself a a „green break“ in the heart of the city.
