Nova Expressed Café was the creation of conceptual artist
and sculptor Cary Long, and was in existence from 1993 to 2008 when it closed due
to gentrification. Much of the decor was fabricated from found objects and
materials. It served great pizza, sandwiches and salads, and was an alternative
performance space. After the Café closed in February 2008, I was asked to
photograph the premises. To preserve a record of my client's concept, I used the
technique of high dynamic range imaging. This allowed me to photograph using
the existing lighting without augmentation.
