Bringing the outdoors into the design of this cancer center helps the facility achieve better results for patients.
After several successful projects with Central DuPage Hospital, CallisonRTKL was brought in again to design the institution’s 48,000-SF freestanding cancer and diagnostic imaging center. The critical success factor for this facility’s design is the focus on the comfort, dignity and safety of patients. To achieve this, the design team incorporated natural light, private treatment areas and healing gardens throughout the space. Each of these elements has a positive impact on the patient’s quality of care, improving the facility’s overall performance.
