Completed in August 2010 the facility is a 60,000 square foot existing building constructed in 1931 and two new additions totaling 94,000 square feet. The original building needed extensive remodeling to achieve today’s educational needs, but also most important was the rich history that the old building represented needed to remain intact.

The expansion to the north is two-story and contains classrooms, science rooms and an elevator for accessibility.

The addition to the south has a 10,000 SF Auditorium; a 14,500 SF gymnasium; locker, wrestling and weight lifting rooms; vocal music and band room; state of the art kitchen and 11,500 SF commons/cafeteria area.

The original building was completely remodeled into classrooms, special education rooms, new restrooms and administrative areas.
The old auditorium was restored to its former beauty with rebuilt chandeliers, repaired moldings, new energy efficient windows and painting to match its “Art Deco” period theme. The three-foot sloping floor was leveled for accessibility. The former stage wood flooring was refinished into seating areas.

The old auditorium has become the new Media Center/Library complete with new computers. The area looks out to the skylight enclosed Plant Science Area. This 2000 SF area was once an exterior light well. There is a new brick paver floor in this atrium.

The old gymnasium was reconstructed into a two-story technology wing. It includes the gifted class (with a refinished original gym floor); four computer rooms; family and consumer science (home economics) room; speech and science laboratory.
The original drama room was remodeled with some new diffused glass windows and refinished stage area unique to the “art deco” era. It has a curved “art deco” proscenium.

Site development included a basketball court and baseball field; soccer and marching band area and storm water collection.
Separation of Bus traffic and Parent traffic is included in the site design as well as separate parking for staff, parents, visitors and for any after-hour events with 200 spaces available.
